Cornell faculty, staff, students and community members celebrated the 95th birthday of Toni Morrison, M.A. ’55, by unveiling a new historical marker in front of 513 N. Albany St., where she lived while in graduate school.

Members of the Cornell community and the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce came together Feb. 10 to celebrate the opening of a new indoor adaptive challenge course at the Noyes Community Recreation Center.

Hersey will speak on “Rest Is Resistance” at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in Sage Chapel.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches tapped into a Black musical tradition that animated the Civil Rights Movement, says Ambre Dromgoole, assistant professor of Africana studies and music.

Timing, not just content, influences whether organizational expressions of allyship are perceived as authentic. 

For her calm leadership and commitment to the community, Michelle Artibee, director of workforce well-being, received the Employee Assembly's George Peter Award for Dedicated Service.

More than 75 employees were honored in this year’s ceremony, representing Cornell’s Ithaca campus as well as Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. 

An enrichment program strengthens teenagers’ communication skills, goal-setting and connection to community, with components for both youth and their caregivers.

As students express their interest in religion, faith-based organizations and the campus itself are evolving to meet their needs, including the addition of a Hindu temple in Anabel Taylor Hall.

The adaptive indoor course will add to accessible resources already available throughout Cornell’s recreation and fitness offerings.
