CANCELLED Voices on Goodness, Gratitude & Belonging

  • Tatkon Center for First-Year Students

Portraits and words of the Cornell community captured by visiting freelance photographer, peace activist, and author of two award-winning photo books from his series A Peace of My Mind, John Noltner. John visited Ithaca during spring and fall 2019 with a portable photo studio. The Cornell community was invited to sit for a portrait and answer one of these questions in 25 words or less: What does doing good mean to you? What kind of world do you want to live in? What are you grateful for? What does belonging at Cornell mean to you?

Come see these beautiful portraits and their accompanying words which offer an authentic glimpse into the spirit and hopes and dreams of our community.

The exhibit will be spread across 4 separate locations:

What does doing good in the world mean to you? (Feb. 3 to March 31 in the Physical Sciences Building; main floor; What are you grateful for? (Feb. 3 to May 15 in the Tatkon Center in South Balch Hall); What does belonging at Cornell mean to you? (Feb. 3 to March 31 in the Mann Library Gallery); andWhat kind of world do you want to live in? (Feb. 17 to March 13 in the Jill Stuart Gallery, Human Ecology Building; a preview of the gallery exhibit will go on display Feb. 3 in the Human Ecology Commons). This is a joint project of the Tatkon Center for First-Year Students, Cornell University Library, West Campus House System, Community and Regional Development Institute (CaRDI), and Belonging at Cornell. It is funded in part by an Engaged Cornell Grant through the Office of Engaged Initiatives.
