Digital storytelling allows story creators and their audiences to transform and engage through the power of narrative. Storytelling practices can be democratic, accessible, and empowering for their creators. Focusing on short-form video offers an opportunity to communicate and move others through working with visual elements, sound, and writing.

With care, creating a digital story can foster digital literacy; problem-solving and critical thinking skills; critical reflection; and purposeful, transformative storytelling.

Participants will create a short video, participate in a story circle workshop, and draft a digital storytelling assignment for a course. Participants will also learn to facilitate a story circle and teach the form confidently, including managing expectations, feedback, and grading.
