‘In the Heights’ Virtual Viewing Party
Saturday, June 12, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM ET

Get cozy on your sofa with some popcorn and your beverage of choice for one of the most anticipated movie premieres of 2021, In The Heights. The Broadway play that made Lin-Manuel Miranda a household name is now a major motion picture that will stream on HBO Max and play in movie theaters starting June 10th. Directed by Jon M. Chu, director of the 2018 blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians, with a screenplay from Quiara Alegría Hudes. Let’s get together and watch Usnavi and Nina bring their dreams and sorrows to the screen. Cornell alumnus Jimmy Smits MFA ‘82 plays Nina’s dad, Kevin.

There’s a bit of everything–gentrification, dancing, first-generation college struggles, romance, colorism, and dreams of returning to la patria. Even a piragüero! Let’s watch and live-comment together on our CLAA Connect Facebook group page. You will need your own HBO Max account (the ad-free version). Watch the film and then send us your comments at CLAA connect https://www.facebook.com/groups/364135724647287/about
